Marka Young, Assistant Concertmaster
Marka Young is an experienced solo performer on modern and historical violin. She was a member of the Rebel Baroque Orchestra, is a member of the Hudson Valley String Quartet, and has performed as a soloist in Carnegie’s Weill Hall, for the Bach Aria Festival, Blossom Festival, Connecticut Early Music Festival, for the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, and as an Artist in Residence at Banff.
Marka received her DMA and MM from SUNY Stony Brook where she studied violin with Joyce Robbins. She received her BA at Sarah Lawrence College, she studied with Dorothy Delay. Camillia Wicks was her teacher while in high school in Northern California, and she has performed in masterclasses for Joseph Gingold, Sergiu Luca and Enrico Gatti.
Ms. Young teaches at Vassar College and maintains a studio of young violinists in Ulster and Dutchess counties. More information about Marka Young can be found at markayoungviolin.com.
