We need supporters such as you to help us build a solid foundation. We have made great strides so far, raising funds and presenting concerts. But there is much more work to do. When we boldly embarked on our plan for reorganization in 2024, we did so to preserve our mission. Our goal is to continue bringing people together around meaningful music, as our orchestra has done for nearly a century. We cannot do this without active engagement in our community, including regular performances and inspiring educational opportunities. Last May, we became a new organization, but without the assets of our previous incarnation. We are essentially a 90-year-old start-up! 

Our first full year since reorganization included seven concerts spanning Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange counties. We present Classics and Pops concerts with world-class soloists. We have been delighted to collaborate with community organizations such as Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir, Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center, and Locust Grove Estate. We brought educational programs in Hyde Park Central School district with side-by-side rehearsals and coaching.

From FDR High School Band Director, Jim Osborn:

You really inspired and educated the students and opened their eyes to a higher level of musicianship! One of my students has already signed up for private lessons and he can't stop talking about his excitement about playing the trombone. I think that the public schools need this type of event to reinvigorate their programs and get back on track in these post Covid days.

Our plan for the future is to continue and expand these initiatives. Educational programming has always been a hallmark of our orchestra, and we look forward to rebuilding that programming to reach more districts and students. We also plan to bring more concerts back to Poughkeepsie while we expand our reach to serve the entire Hudson Valley community.
