Joel Evans, Oboe/English Horn
Joel Evans, oboist and English hornist with the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra, is also oboist with the Poné Ensemble for New Music and plays baroque and classical oboes with Hudson Valley Baroque, the resident historic ensemble at SUNY New Paltz, where he serves as Emeritus Professor of music.
Joel has performed with the American Symphony, the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, and was principal oboist of the Albany Symphony from 1982 to 1986. He has recorded for Philo, Rounder, Koch, CRI, New World, and his playing has been heard all over the US, Canada, Europe, Russia and the Far East. He has appeared as featured soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Tanglewood, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Joel served as principal oboist of the West Point Band for nearly thirty years and holds degrees from the University of Maine, Columbia University and the City University of New York.
