Jeffrey Marchand, Principal Bassoon
Jeffrey Marchand is Principal Bassoonist of the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra (formerly HVP) and Assistant Principal Bassoonist of the New York City Opera.
His diverse career includes the fields of Opera (New York City Opera since 1982, Metropolitan Opera, Andrea Bocelli among others), Symphony (Orchestra of St. Lukes, New Jersey Symphony, NY Pops, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, New York Philharmonic among many others), Contemporary (Metallica at MSG, The Who, James Taylor, Judy Collins, Pink Martini, Natalie Merchant), Broadway (Candide, La Boheme, Beauty and the Beast, among others), International Touring on four continents; numerous movie soundtracks and commercial jingles. He has appeared in the film Maestro and Amazon’s Etoile.
He has recorded for major record labels EMI, Angel, CRI, Capitol, Nonesuch, Musical Heritage Society, Koch International, Delos and Deutsche Grammophon.
Teaching affiliations included Dalton School, LI University and Eastern Music Festival.
He holds the B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Juilliard School.
